It now looks certain that the ISSE and RIS will come together on one campus sometime in the year 2012. To this end a new position has been created, that of the Director of the International School of Eindhoven (ISE) David Gatley, who will oversee the transformation of the RIS and ISSE into a single entity called ISE.

On December 2, 2007, I met Leo Stijns (1978-1988), the first head of the ISSE. He was in good form and about to leave for Brazil for an extended holiday. For the record, it was Leo Stijns who successfully campaigned for the introduction of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma into the ISSE in 1982. Here he is below:

Below centre: David Garner, head ISSE 2000 to 2007. He is seen here flanked by two ISSE beauties Amber and Fabienne. David Garner helped found the new ISSE building at the Venetiestraat. He was also responsible for coordinating the drive towards the introduction of the IB Middle Years Programme, as well as setting up an exstensive programme of extracurricular activities, including the annual ski camp. Last but not least, he steered the schoolaccreditation process to a crowning success in 2007.

Below: Peter Goosens, head ISSE 1988-1998. Under his headship the ISSE grew in student numbers and flourished culturally. Alumni recall the annual blockbusting stage productions with Graham Short and Peter Goosens (on the piano). This picture was taken in 2005.

Latest News from the Staff room
Graham Short, long serving ISSE teacher (since 1988) resigned in September 2004, to take up a post in Roermond. Both alumni and staff will remember him for his block-buster school musicals (Such as Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat) and generally for his skills at organizing social events. He was of course present during the 2004 reunion. In recent years, he stopped with the school plays and coordinated instead CAS (Creativity, Action and Service) curricular activities.
In the October 2004 issue of the ISSE Update, Jennifer Anderson paid the following tribute to Graham Short:
Goodbye Mr CAS
Graham chose that evening because of his involvement in the CAS programme which was introduced to the new DP students on that day. Following their bicycle tour of Eindhoven, the students returned, with Graham, to school, where they, and school staff, were entertained to a barbecue by DP2. Goodbye cards were presented to Graham by Aled Edwards and Amy Wu, on behalf of the students.
As acting-head he led the school for two and a half years, following the departure of the previous head, before the appointment of David Garner. He took most satisfaction in his leadership of the CAS programme in the IB Diploma Programme, which allowed him to combine his international outlook with a concern to involve our students in Dutch society and culture. Graham was a very influential and dynamic force in the ISSE. He served the school in the most excellent of ways, and he will be sorely missed. This was evident at the 2004 reunion in September when four alumni came over from England especially to say goodbye to him.We wish him success, happiness and the best of luck in his future career.

After 20 years as mathematics teacher, Mrs Pat Everid resigned from the ISSE in February 2004, in order to relocate to Singapore, where her husband has been transferred. There were many tributes paid to her. Click here to read what Mr David Garner, head of the ISSE had to say about Mrs Everid. See below a picture of the ISSE staff during the 1989-90 scholastic year. Alumni news
In the March 2004 issue of Link magazine, a University of Utrecht publication , the front page of the magazine featured a 2000 alumnus of the ISSE, Donya Alinejad. Here below is her picture on the cover page:
Donya attends University College Utrecht (UCU), which is the international department of the main university. The three-year undergraduate course at the UCU are highly regarded and very popular with our students. Click here to read Donya's interview on page 9 of the Link magazine.
